Public Safety is Our #1 Priority

Welcome to the Coppin State University Police Department! We are responsible for keeping our campus secure, and protecting everyone who lives, learns, works, and visits our campus.

Courtesy, Professionalism, and Respect

As part of our priorities to keep you and our campus safe, we must work collaboratively with everyone who is part of our Coppin community. We hold our Officers, operational, and administrative staff to the highest standards of professionalism, and expect them to engage in ways that make our community feel respected and safe.

Technology

We are always upgrading our information technology to make sure our campus is connected. Our Officers use electric vehicles and bicycles to travel through campus. Our Emergency Blue Lights are a quick way for anyone to connect with Campus Police in an emergency. We are always looking for new ways to modernize our readiness to keep our campus prepared for emergency situations.

Emergency Preparedness

To respond to an emergency, you must first be prepared. We take emergency preparedness very seriously. We continuously update our Campus Emergency Operations Plan and Procedure, maintain Emergency Blue Light Phones and Evacuation Routes, as well as share resources on what to do in an active shooter scenario.

Statistics and Recordkeeping

Per federal and state guidelines, we maintain up-to-date records of any crime statistics on campus and in surrounding areas.
