Dreamers & Doers STEM Academy at Coppin State University
The Academy, which will serve approximately 50 Baltimore City students in grades 3-12, combines small-group mathematics tutoring for elementary students with hands-on STEM enrichment, mentorship, and exposure to STEM professionals and career pathways.
The academy seeks individuals who can help facilitate our coding and robotics enrichment activities. Given that the Academy will be hosted at Coppin, this is a wonderful opportunity for students in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science to gain practical instructional experience while making a meaningful impact on younger students in the Baltimore community.
Specifically, the academy seeks individuals with experience or interest in the following areas:
- LEGO Education Robotics & Coding (Grades 3–8): Supporting hands-on robotics activities that introduce elementary and middle school students to coding, engineering design, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- VEX Robotics & Coding (Grades 9–12): Helping high school students develop robotics programming, engineering, and technical problem-solving skills.
These are paid, part-time opportunities for students who have a strong technical foundation, enjoy working with young people, and are interested in developing their instructional skills.
