Returning Student Housing

A Campus to Come Home to

Currently enrolled Coppin State University students who live on campus or want to live on campus for the 2022-2023 year must participate in the housing lottery and re-contracting process. This process lets students select roommate(s) and room assignments for the upcoming year.

As residence hall availability allows, we assign all returning students to Dedmond Hall.

Re-contracting Eligibility

To be eligible to live on campus, returning students must:

  • Have a 2.0 minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA)
  • Have no history of Student Code of Conduct judicial violations
  • Have a current student account with no outstanding debts

Housing Lottery and Re-contracting Application

The application is open from March 1, 2022 - April 1, 2022.

All eligible students, including Honors Program and athletes, interested in on-campus housing must complete the application. Any student who misses the application deadline can apply for the waitlist.

Enter your information into the application, then save it as a new file named FirstName_LastName_Housing_Application.

Once complete, return it to the Office of Housing email

Lottery Numbers

Eligible students who meet the criteria and apply by the deadline get a lottery number. Lottery numbers are based upon each returning student's class standing, cumulative GPA, and proximity to campus.

The Office of Housing provides lottery numbers at random, but opens selection to students numerically by lottery number. The closer your number is to 0, the earlier you may be able to select campus housing.

The housing selection process prioritizes students this way:

  • First: Rising sophomore students
  • Second: Upperclassmen with a permanent address 20 miles or further from the university
  • Third: Upperclassmen with permanent addresses within 20 miles of the university.

Eligible students receive emails with their lottery numbers, online selection date, and instructions for room selection

Online Housing Selection will be April 12 - 15, 2022.

Honors Program and Athletes

Eligible Honors Program scholars and athletes select rooms electronically room selection during the week after online housing selection begins. Honors Program scholars or athletes who do not meet housing eligibility requirements are not allowed to select a room.

The Office of Housing will send instructions, selection dates, and times to eligible students by email.

Covid-19 and Housing Availability

Housing returned to 100% capacity for the 2021-2022 academic year. Understanding that the pandemic is constantly changing, the Office of Housing will continue to keep you informed of any changes to housing capacity and/or occupancy before the room selection process begins.
