The Chemistry program at Coppin State University provides students with a strong foundation in the chemical sciences while offering opportunities to tailor their education to their academic and career goals. Students may pursue the Traditional Chemistry Track, which provides broad preparation for careers in industry, education, government laboratories, and graduate study, or choose from one of two specialized concentrations:

  • Biochemistry – Explore the chemistry of living systems and prepare for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and biomedical research.
  • Materials Science – Study the design, synthesis, and characterization of materials that drive innovations in manufacturing, electronics, nanotechnology, and advanced technologies.

Traditional Chemistry

The Traditional Chemistry Track at Coppin State University provides a comprehensive foundation in the chemical sciences, preparing students to understand and solve complex scientific challenges across a wide range of fields. Materials Science Concentration

The Materials Science concentration within the Chemistry program prepares students to understand, design, and characterize the materials that drive innovation across industries, including healthcare, electronics, manufacturing, energy, and biotechnology.
