Coppin State University Invites Community to the 2026 Coppin Golf Classic

Annual event will support Coppin State Athletics and celebrate the launch of the University's new NCAA Division I men's and women's golf programs.

BALTIMORE – Coppin State University invites alumni, supporters, corporate partners, and golf enthusiasts to participate in the 2026 Coppin Golf Classic on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland.

The annual fundraising event brings together members of the Coppin community for a day of friendly competition and philanthropy, with proceeds benefiting Coppin State Athletics and supporting student-athlete success. This year's tournament is especially significant as Coppin prepares to launch its new NCAA Division I men's and women's golf programs during the Fall 2026 season.

“With the addition of men's and women's golf, Coppin State will offer 16 NCAA Division I athletic programs,” said Derek Carter, Coppin State University's Director of Athletics. “Both teams will compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), further expanding opportunities for student-athletes while strengthening the University's proud tradition of excellence in intercollegiate athletics.”

The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Guests who prefer not to golf can participate in a special Non-Golfer Experience beginning at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at 3:00 p.m.

“The Coppin Golf Classic is an opportunity for alumni, friends, and community partners to invest in the success of our student-athletes and the future of Coppin State University,” said Joshua E. Humbert, CAP, Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the CSU Foundation. “As we launch our new men's and women's golf programs, support from events like this helps us provide transformative opportunities for our students to compete, learn, and lead at the highest level.”
