Coppin State University Celebrates Student Leadership at 2026 Royal Court Coronation
Annual ceremony honored Mister and Miss Coppin and the Royal Court, celebrating leadership, service and university tradition.
BALTIMORE — Coppin State University celebrated student leadership, service and school pride during its annual Royal Court Coronation on Monday, October 12, in the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium. The ceremony marked the beginning of I Love Coppin Week and recognized students selected to represent the university throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.
The ceremony honored Danielle Stafford, Miss Coppin, and Dayquan Pier, Mister Coppin, alongside members of the Royal Court. Together, these student leaders will serve as ambassadors for Coppin State, promoting student engagement, university traditions and community service.
For Stafford, representing Coppin is an opportunity to demonstrate the leadership and confidence she has developed throughout her college experience. Her journey from a reserved student to a campus leader reflects the personal growth and sense of belonging that have shaped her Coppin experience.
Pier views his role as an opportunity to advocate for students, encourage involvement and contribute to a campus environment where students feel connected and supported. His commitment to leadership reflects the importance of community, personal growth and service.
The 2026–2027 Royal Court includes:
Mister Coppin: Dayquan Pier
Miss Coppin: Danielle Stafford
Mister and Miss Senior: Ernesto Mauricio and Taisha Saint-Simon
Mister and Miss Junior: Stone Green and Sanaa Bowman
Mister and Miss Sophomore: Kevin Looney III and Dynisti Rowe-McMillan
More than a ceremonial tradition, the Royal Court provides students with opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, advocate for their peers and contribute to campus life. Throughout the academic year, court members will participate in university programs, student initiatives and community engagement activities while representing Coppin State.
The coronation also kicked off I Love Coppin Week, October 12–16, a weeklong celebration of university pride, campus traditions and community. The week's activities bring students, faculty, staff and alumni together to celebrate the connections and experiences that make Coppin State distinctive.
As the 2026–2027 Royal Court begins its reign, its members carry forward a tradition of student leadership while helping shape the next chapter of the Coppin State experience.
