Coppin State Invites Community to 5th Annual Wellness Walk
“Boots on the Ground” event will bring Eagle Nation and the Baltimore community together for cancer awareness, wellness and support
BALTIMORE – Coppin State University First Lady Toinette Jenkins is inviting Eagle Nation and the greater Baltimore community to grab their boots and walk for a cause at the 5th Annual Wellness Walk: Boots on the Ground on Tuesday, October 13, at the PEC Concourse.
Now in its fifth year, the Wellness Walk brings together Coppin students, faculty, staff, alumni, cancer survivors, supporters and community members to raise awareness and stand with women and men impacted by cancer.
This year’s western-inspired “Boots on the Ground” theme adds a new twist to the annual tradition. Participants are encouraged to wear their best western-inspired attire for an evening featuring an Awareness Trailride, dinner, prizes and Coppin spirit.
Dinner service begins at 5:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 6 p.m.
The event takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but its message extends beyond breast cancer. Under the theme “Women & Men: Stronger Together,” the Wellness Walk encourages the entire community to make health and wellness a priority.
The event also emphasizes the importance of turning awareness into action. Participants are encouraged to learn their family health histories, pay attention to changes in their bodies and talk with healthcare professionals about appropriate preventive care and screenings.
The Wellness Walk reflects Coppin State University’s commitment to promoting health and wellness on campus and throughout the Baltimore community.
Cancer survivors, caregivers, families, students, alumni, and community members are encouraged to participate. Whether walking in support of a loved one, honoring someone’s memory or simply making a commitment to better health, everyone is welcome.
