Fitness Programs

The Fitness Center regularly hosts group exercise classes, individualized and personal programs, as well as special events. We're always updating the schedule and adding new opportunities to get involved, and stay active.

Designed for anyone and every body at all fitness levels, our group fitness classes offer something for everyone. Recent classes include Zumba, cardio, and strength training.

Interested in running, but not sure where to start? Join this training program designed to motivate and prepare you to run your first 5K or improve your running time for your next 5K.

Walking regularly can lower stress levels, improve concentration, and help prevent fatigue and injury. This group is for people who enjoy walking, and want to walk more frequently, and also for anyone interested in getting started.

You have health and fitness goals. We want to help you achieve them. We work 1-on-1 with students, staff, faculty, and local community residents to identify, prioritize, and achieve health, fitness, and wellness goals.

Before starting any exercise or fitness program, it's helpful to know your baseline. Establishing a baseline means you are measuring the starting point of any process so you can track growth or improvement.

Our fitness team members conduct fitness assessments to establish your starting point for:

  • cardiovascular fitness
  • muscular strength
  • endurance
  • flexibility
  • body composition
  • circumference
  • height
  • weight
  • blood pressure
  • heart rate

The goal of the WOW program is to help women become comfortable and familiar with using free weight, and experience benefits of strength training.  To get the most out of the program, we recommend participants attend all sessions.

Whether it's your first time in a gym, or your first time back in a while, you might benefit from an introduction to fitness equipment. During this orientation, a fitness team member takes you on a guided tour of the facility, and helps you get familiar with the cardio and strength training equipment, as well as free weights.

Open to any current Coppin student, this program includes personal development trainings around fitness, personal training, and group exercise.

Based on the hit tv show, this campus program gets faculty and staff excited and motivated to lead healthy lifestyles.
