Julius Caesar
JULIUS CAESAR is Shakespeare's gripping political tragedy, set in Rome on the brink of upheaval. Returning from victory, Caesar's rising power alarms senators who fear a slide toward dictatorship. Brutus, torn between personal loyalty and civic duty, joins Cassius in a plot that leads to the Ides of March. On a shocking night, his friends and countrymen assassinate Caesar. Will their power brokering save Rome’s democracy? Or is it paranoia that threatens to throw the Republic into chaos and war? These questions and answers not only frame a complicated argument about heroes and tyrants, but an investigation into leadership, loyalty, community, and the stories people conveniently tell to justify what they have done.
