What we do

We are a team of communication professionals, each with individual expertise to achieve measurable outcomes. From developing data-driven advertising campaigns to showcasing the university's contributions in regional and national news media, we share the Coppin story and highlight how students learning from faculty and others transform their lives and prepare for success in Baltimore, the state of Maryland and beyond.

We approach every project with a clear purpose. Utilizing traditional and digital platforms, we communicate the Coppin experience and success stories of students, faculty, alumni and staff.

How we do it

Sharing the Coppin story helps to increase awareness among our internal and external stakeholders. We aim to highlight student achievement, faculty and staff expertise, as well as alumni success, reinforcing the premise that the Coppin experience is transformative.

While written and verbal messaging is used to "tell" the Coppin story, photography and video capture moments that are used to create a visual narrative of the university. There are a number of image resources available that can help illustrate and promote the CSU experience.

University Relations employs a strategic approach to plan, design and implement marketing campaigns and create promotional materials. Whether through paid or organic reach, our goal is to employ marketing strategies and tactics to promote growth in enrollment, fundraising, rankings, and other indicators of university success.

Promoting the Coppin brand in a healthy manner is everyone’s responsibility. In addition to maintaining CSU brand guidelines, the university has partnered with the College Licensing Company to ensure that the integrity of the Coppin brand is maintained among vendors and licensees.

Having a social media strategy to deliver digital content is essential in reaching a number of target audiences that Coppin serves. University Relations maintains the official Coppin social media pages and offers guidelines and assistance for CSU-related pages.

Our Priorities

In alignment with Coppin State University’s mission, our priorities focus on high-level institutional branding, student recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

These priorities include:

  • Increasing student enrollment and retention
  • Showcasing scholarship through research and publications
  • Sharing Coppin experiences and success stories that position the University as a leader in higher education.
  • Positioning faculty and staff as experts for both local and national media
  • Working with departments across campus to develop strategies to communicate Coppin’s successes, highlight its programs, and impact on the community
  • Inspiring engagement, fostering community and building awareness for Coppin’s distinctive vision and value
