At Coppin, you have access to the latest technologies and devices. Choose among our various computer labs, research facilities, and study spaces to create, learn, and apply theory to practice.

Lab Use Policies

To help maintain a welcoming, productive, and secure environment for everyone, please follow these guidelines when using university computer labs and shared technology spaces.

  • Help maintain a focused environment. Keep conversations, phone calls, videos, and other audio at a level that does not disrupt others who are studying or working.
  • Food and beverages should be kept away from technology. Please avoid food or drinks near computers, keyboards, printers, and other equipment.
  • Protect your work. Save files to your OneDrive or USB. Do not save files locally to a lab computer, as they will not be retained after you log off.
  • Protect university technology. Do not install software, change system settings, disconnect equipment, or modify university hardware without authorization from the Division of Information Technology.
  • Use technology responsibly. Use university technology resources in accordance with Coppin State University policies, applicable laws, and standards for appropriate and responsible technology use.
  • Print thoughtfully. Review documents before printing and print only what you need to help reduce unnecessary printing and associated costs.
  • Plan for closing time. Save your work and begin logging off before the lab closes so that you have enough time to securely end your session.
  • Leave the space ready for the next person. Dispose of unwanted materials, return chairs and equipment to their appropriate locations, and leave the workspace clean.
  • Secure your information. Always log out of systems and websites before leaving a shared computer. Never share passwords or leave sensitive information visible on the screen.
  • Respect others and the space. University computer labs are shared environments. Treat fellow users, staff, equipment, and facilities with courtesy and care.
