Biography

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at Coppin State University. I routinely teach the following undergraduate courses: Social Work Research, Social Work and Technology, Introduction to Social Work, and Professional Seminar. I have also taught Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Independent Research, and Social Work Policy. In addition to teaching, I serve on numerous committees at the department, college, and university level. I have the pleasure of serving as a mentor to both students and junior faculty within the university.

I have published in several peer reviewed journals and am a co-author in a recent anthology. I am a regularly invited speaker and workshop facilitator for various organizations, churches, and local universities. I have over 20 years experience pursuing my research interests within community-based organizations and the faith community, as well as presenting my research at local, national, and international conferences, with multiple appearances on radio and television shows locally and abroad.

My research interests are African American caregivers, social work and technology, health promotion within faith-based organizations, religiosity and African Americans, homeschooling African American children, and Black mothers.

I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; very involved in my local church, where I faithfully serve in the social media ministry; and am married with two amazing children.
