School of Allied Health
The CSU School of Allied Health is composed of the Department of Health Information Management (HIM) and the Department of Health and Health Education (HEED). Within HEED is the new major in Health Sciences. As technology continues to strengthen the nation's health care industry, health information management professionals are becoming as crucial to health care as health care providers. Created to meet the growing need for health information management professionals, Coppin State University is the only higher education institution in the State of Maryland to offer an accredited four-year degree program in Health Information (HIM).
As a result of the Affordable Care Act and decades old health disparities across the country and around the world, this is the best time in history to major in Health Sciences and the best time in history to be educated at a Historically Black College/University (HBCU). Through investigative surveillance and research, Health Scientists endeavor to understand, interpret/explain, and manage health related phenomenon. Your Health Sciences degree from CSU will prepare you to significantly contribute to the health and well-being of others locally, nationally, and internationally.
