Stansbury is currently the Director of Teaching and Learning Excellence at the University of Baltimore's Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT), as the plenary speaker for the seventeenth annual Dr. Habtu Braha Information Technology in Teaching and Learning Conference.
Dr. Jessica A. Stansbury is currently the Director of Teaching and Learning Excellence at the University of Baltimore's Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT). She holds a doctorate in Instructional Technology and a Masters in Experimental Psychology from Towson University. With a robust background that blends psychology, technology, and educational research, Dr. Stansbury has paved a distinctive path in academic leadership.
Before her service at the University of Baltimore, Dr. Stansbury worked as an assessment specialist at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a position at Johns Hopkins University where she conducted research on substance abuse. She spent 15 years as a full-time faculty member in the Psychology Department at Towson University, where she also served as the Psychology Program Director for Towson University Northeastern. During her time as faculty, she established and directed the Teaching and Gaming Lab (TAG Lab), a significant innovation under her leadership as faculty and program director.
Dr. Stansbury has become a prominent figure in the discussion of generative AI in educational settings, contributing to both scholarly discourse and public understanding. She has penned several influential publications, including op-eds like "Rush to Regulate AI Lacks Educators' Perspective" and "AI won't replace humans. It will enhance learning." Her expertise is regularly featured in prestigious media outlets such as The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post, and she was cited in MIT Technology Review.
Her scholarly activities extend to presenting research, as seen in her study "Unveiling AI in Academia" published as a white paper and released on Ithaka S+R Blog. Dr. Stansbury also leads professional development through workshops and presentations, with a focus on leveraging AI to enrich educational practices. In her current role, she continues to advocate for innovative pedagogy and the integration of emerging technologies in teaching and learning. Her work reflects her commitment to educational excellence and her vision for the future of academia influenced by artificial intelligence.
