Writing Center Coordinator Bryan Preston, a Baltimore native and Towson University alum, has been at Coppin State University since May of 2010. Prior to his time with the Coppin Writing Center, he has served the University as an academic advisor to the honors department, director of placement testing, and as a Freshman English Composition adjunct faculty member.  Bryan has had a lifelong passion for writing that started at an early age and has continued on in his academic and professional life.

Assistant Writing Center Coordinator Doretha Houston has served students as a professional tutor in the Coppin Writing Center since 2009 and also serves as a Freshman Seminar and Freshman English Composition adjunct faculty member. She earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore County and her master’s from Central Michigan University. In her spare time, she loves to read, play piano, watch classic films, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoys collaborating with Coppin students and encouraging them to overcome writing challenges in their academic pursuits.

Dr. Matthew B. Hill, Humanities Liaison, is Associate Professor of English in the Department of Humanities and the Coordinator of the Freshman English Composition Program.  His academic work focuses on 20th century poetry, film, and popular culture. Dr. Hill works with the Coppin Writing Center staff to develop best practices, improve client experiences, implement effective pedagogical techniques, and expand the Center’s visibility and services to the campus community.
