Leadership and Involvement Opportunities
A Resident Assistant (RA) is a trained student staff member who works with residents in the residence hall. A RA has many roles and responsibilities, including, but not limited to, acting as a Para-counselor for students, a resource person for students with academic or institutional concerns and enforcing residence hall policies. RAs go through a one to two week intense training process each and every semester. A RA must balance their personal schedule and priorities with the needs of the job. A RA is a role model who must exemplify a character of integrity, respect and accountability at all times. In exchange for their service the room and board is waived as compensation.
The Inter-Residence Hall Council (IRHC) is a student-led governing body who represents the issues and concerns of those students living on campus. Their function includes programming, conducting meetings and responding to resident concerns.
