2019 Student Achievement Showcase Winners Announced!

A total of 65 students from four academic colleges participated in the showcase.

The first Student Achievement Showcase was held May 10, 2019 in the Talon Center Atrium. Sixty-five (65) students participated and were representative of the four academic colleges. A collaborative effort among the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs allowed each student participant to be awarded $25.00 and a certificate of achievement. Additionally, there were four first place prizes of $200.00 and five second place prizes of $100.00 given to students recognized by showcase judges, as those who demonstrated exceptional achievement towards the learning outcomes. Winners received stipends provided through collaboration with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

The 2019 Showcase winners are as follows:

COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES AND EDUCATION

1ST Place - $200 – Tyler Harris, Chemistry, Colorimetric Detection of Lead Using Good Nanoparticles
2nd Place - $100 – Tawshawn Colbert, Chemistry, Lead in Soil: A Case Study in Baltimore’s Watershed
2nd Place - $100 – Phoebe Rice, Elementary Education, Culturally Relevant Mathematics Instruction with
                                 Third Grade Students

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

1ST Place - $200 – Lynette Neaves, Management, CareFirst Customer Engagement Initiative

COLLEGE OF BEHAVIORAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

1ST Place - $200 – Kri Chan Green, Social Work, Sox in a Box Initiative: Addressing the Survival Needs of
                                the Vulnerable Homeless Population in Baltimore City

2nd Place - $100 – Isler Whittley, Social Work, The Impact of Bullying Among African American
                                Adolescence
