Coppin Non Profit Leadership Alliance hosted "An Evening of Peace" rally and expo

On Thursday May 9, Coppin State University hosted a nonprofit open house for students to explore various careers in the nonprofit sector. Coppin scholars had an opportunity to meet and greet various nonprofit professionals from 100 Black Men, Boy Scouts, Baltimore Corps, Great Blacks in Wax Museum, Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross and Be the Match

Later that evening the Coppin State University Nonprofit Leadership Alliance hosted an “Evening of Peace” Rally in remembrance of Baltimore’s victims of gun violence. This event was in support of CSU Nonprofit Leadership students Jamie Frierson and Catenia Horton, both mothers of children who are victims of gun violence. Special guests of the Peace Rally included: Dr. Donte L Hickman of Southern Baptist Church, keynote speaker Darnyle K. Wharton of Baltimore Ceasefire 365, musical selections by the NACA Freedom Choir and music by the legendary DJ Terry T of Baltimore’s We Rock Krew. Representatives from the following nonprofit organizations was present: Community Law Center, Office of Civil Rights, Baltimore Mediation, Ceasefire, Roberta’s House, Marian House, Sisters Together and Reaching (STAR), Friendly Loving Opportunity (FLO) and the Center for Urban Families.
