Outdoor Summer Concert Series Returns
Baltimore, MD - Coppin State University is again offering its Summer Concert Series for the enjoyment of the West Baltimore community as well as Baltimore at-large. The Concert Series, now in its fifth season, is an annual tradition and features popular musicians throughout the summer months.
Coppin’s tree-lined 65-acre campus is located in West Baltimore at 2500 West North Avenue. The kick-off concert, which featured the popular Rollex Band was attended by more than 300 persons. “The campus of Coppin State University is the ideal location to enjoy an outdoor concert,” said Marcia Cephus, Director of Alumni and Donor Relations and the organizer for the concert series. “Our Quad, where the concerts are held, offers water features with fiber optic lighting, benches, and shade trellis with seating. It’s a wonderful green space in a quiet setting that makes Coppin’s campus a destination point for all to enjoy.”
The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs, food, and family out to enjoy the featured talent. Parking is free on campus beginning at 6 pm and the concerts take place from 6 pm – 9 pm, rain or shine. Featured artists for the remainder of the summer include:
Thursday, July 27 – Redfootz Presents The Red Sessions çDerek “Redfootz” Freeman and his band perform a wide variety of music from originals, to Jazz and Top 40 R&B covers.
Thursday, August 24 – Platinum Soul with The Unit Strong, featuring Watchy ç Platinum Soul brings together five man harmony while the Unit Strong featuring Watchy takes listeners on a tour from Jazz to Pop to Top 40 R&B.
Thursday, September 14 – Craig Alston Band çCraig Alston is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore who is best known as the saxophonist for Fertile Ground. His genre is jazz/soul/nu-jazz.
The Coppin State University Summer Concert Series enjoys the support of Della Rose’s, the B&O Railroad Museum, Meadow Mill Athletic Club, Bluestone, Goetze’s, The Cheesecake Factory, Wegmans, Geppi’s Entertainment Museum, BSO, Pepsi, BJ’s Wholesale, TGI Friday’s, and Ladew Topiary Gardens and Baltimore Center Stage.
