Please plan accordingly for the upcoming Blackboard Learn outage.
Blackboard Learn will be down for scheduled maintenance and upgrade from Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3pm to Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 11:59pm. During this time, faculty and students will not be able to access any of the Blackboard Learn services (e.g., grading student work, posting announcements, accessing the Grade Center, uploading content, creating tests/quizzes, etc.) or TurnItIn.

WHAT ARE THE DATES OF OUTAGE?
Blackboard will be unavailable from Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3pm to Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 11:59pm.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE OUTAGE?
At the end of the academic year, the Information Technology Division upgrades Blackboard to a newer version. To complete the upgrade, we must completely take Blackboard offline. After the upgrade, faculty and students will experience newer features and a better Blackboard user experience.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE NEWER FEATURES?
- Introduction of the “Goal Performance Dashboard” to show better alignment between grades and student learning outcomes.
- The instructor email is instead included in the “reply-to” header.
- Support for the Microsoft Edge browser.
- In the discussions page, users can navigate from thread-to-thread without having to return to the main page.
WHY WAS THIS TIME SELECTED?
Traditionally, the upgrade is done at the end of May. The outage period (Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3pm to Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 11:59pm) occurs after the last day to submit grades and before the start of summer courses. It is a historically low usage time on the Blackboard system. Most important, an outage during this time will no impact active courses or end-of-semester grading.
WHEN WILL FALL 2017 COURSES BE CREATED?
The Fall 2017 courses will be created the first week of June, after the Blackboard upgrade.
WHAT WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING THE UPGRADE?
With the exception of Blackboard and TurnItIn, all of campus systems will be available. The outage will not impact:
- EagleLINKS (eaglelinks.coppin.edu)
- Skype for Business
- Network Drives (H:, K:, J:, etc.)
- Campus Analytics
- Blackboard Connect (www.blackboardconnect.com)
- Tegrity (must access via https://coppin.tegrity.com/)
All of the above services will operate as normal.
