Housing for Returning Students
Housing Lottery & Recontracting
Currently enrolled Coppin State University students, living on-campus, interested in living on-campus for 2020-2021 must participate in the Housing Lottery & Recontracting process. This process allows students to select their room assignment and roommate for the upcoming year. Returning students are assigned to available spaces in Dedmond Hall.
Eligibility for Recontracting
In order to be eligible students must:
- Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Have no history of judicial violations of the student code of conduct
- Pay their student account and satisfy any outstanding payment agreements with the Student Accounts office
Eligible students must complete a Housing Lottery & Recontracting Application to participate. All students interested in housing, including Honors College and Athletes, must apply by the deadline. Students who miss the deadline can apply for the waitlist following online selection.
The application period runs from March 1, 2021 - April 1, 2021.
Students can access the Housing Lottery & Recontracting Application here. You must have the most up-to-date version of the Adobe PDF reader installed. Please fill out the application, save as a new file with your name, and return it via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Eligible students who meet the criteria and apply by the deadline will be issued a lottery number. Lottery numbers are based upon class standing, cumulative GPA, and proximity to campus. The lower the lottery number the earlier a student will be able to select a room. The housing selection process prioritizes rising sophomore students first, followed by upperclassmen with a permanent address 20 miles or further from the university, and last upperclassmen with permanent addresses within 20 miles of the university. Eligible students will receive emails with their lottery numbers, their online selection date, and instructions for selecting their room.
Online Housing Selection will be April 13 - 16, 2021.
Honors College & Athletes
Eligible Honors College scholars and athletes will select their rooms electronically room selection during the week following online housing selection. Honors College scholars or athletes who do not meet the eligibility requirements for housing will not be allowed to select a room. Instructions, selection dates, and times will be sent to eligible students via email.
COVID-19 & Housing Availability
Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, housing availability may be limited for upperclassmen for the fall semester. The current on-campus capacity for housing is 50% and all residents are housed in single rooms. Decisions to increase this capacity or to return to double occupancy will be finalized prior to the room selection process. We will continue to keep you informed as these decisions are finalized.
