2019 Fall Convocation
During this annual tradition, university leadership focuses on inspiring Coppinites for the year ahead.
A time to immerse yourself into the CSU community
From our Mission Statement: “The university fosters leadership, social responsibility, civic and community engagement, cultural diversity and inclusion, and economic development.” Convocation is the place for students to bring their dreams, aspirations, and most importantly, themselves to learn about the advantages of being a part of Coppin State University’s exceptional learning community.
Convocation marks the inauguration of a new academic year, and with it, the hope of accomplishment in every aspect of undergraduate life. University administrators and faculty will don their academic regalia to welcome the newest members of the Eagles and to begin the process of nudging senior Eagles from the nest. First-year students will be encouraged to start their college education on the right foot, and seniors are invigorated to make the most of their last nine months as undergraduates.
Convocation fosters kinship. It is one of the few times of the year where most of the campus community, including students, administrators, and faculty members, gather together in one location. Convocation is an opportunity for administrators and faculty to show their dedication to helping students succeed.
2019 Fall Convocation will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 11:00 am, in the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium, 2500 West North Avenue. The speaker for Convocation is Dr. Mickey L. Burnim, CSU Interim President.
In 1983, fall convocation at Coppin State University was instituted as an annual event. Since then, students have been attending the yearly ceremony designed to set the academic tone for the year.
