OPEN AUDITIONS: "for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf"
African American women, at least 18 years of age, are welcome to audition : ". . . for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf." Join us; come out and tell our stories.
"The stories these women recite may be largely hard-luck tales, but there is undeniable triumph in the very act of the telling." (Ben Brantley, The New York Times, June 26, 1995).
There is also triumph in "the very act of" auditioning. Auditions are open to all African American women, at least 18 years of age, and will be held Thursday, August 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Theatre Lab, room 105, on the lower level of the Grace Hill Jacobs Building. Please be prepared to present a one-minute monologue.
"Mama" Rashida Forman-Bey of WombWork Productions will direct the show, and performances will run from October 4-8.
