Early Childhood Child Care, Human Development Track
The primary objective of the Early Childhood Child Care/Human Development Track is to prepare well-qualified teachers in an early learning center and directors who will be effective in guiding the learning experiences of young children in Head Start programs, childcare centers, and pre-school programs. The focal point of the track is the recognition of children's individuality and the development of their self-worth and security. Within the program, prospective early learning teachers and future directors of child care centers will have the opportunities to acquire the skills and understanding that will enable them to stimulate the sensory and cognitive abilities of the child through exploration, experimentation, and discovery.
Accreditation
This program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
This program also has an initial certification, and is nationally recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Qualified Teacher Education
In the Department of Teaching and Learning, our goal is to prepare well-qualified early learning professionals, such as early learning center teachers and directors, as well as pre-school program and Head Start teachers, to champion support for the early learners’ broad range of needs. Our students graduate with the skills to manage daily operations, plan foundational academic lessons, as well as collect and analyze data to make informed decisions.
We also expose students to real-world classroom environments through our Professional Development School (PDS) sites. These classroom experiences help our students:
