I am a non-traditional student: a 42 year-old African-American woman, who at one time had all of the odds against me. Attending college has not been an easy journey, however, I have been able to achieve a grade point average of 3.9. I'm involved in a variety of honors clubs and organizations, and really enjoy being in a position to set an example for others. The highlight of my academic accomplishments is receiving the Charles B. Wright Leadership Award. Prior to re-entering college, I spent six-years in the United State Army. I lived in Germany for three-years and learned to function within a very diverse culture.
I am very active in my church. I'm the Vice President of the "Voices" Choir; a Communion Steward; the Chairperson of our Community Outreach/Social Concerns Program; and the Food Pantry Operator. I also worked as a volunteer in the computer lab with our after school program. There is no better joy than doing God's work. The rest of my life will be spent helping people in one capacity or another.
