The department has just completed a survey of social work alumni. Twenty alumni responded. Most completed the dual major in social science/social work that was discontinued in 1999. Over half will have earned the M.S.W. degree by May, 2003. All but one are now working full time in social work or a related human service field (e.g. criminal justice, etc.). Only one of the twenty is temporarily out of work. Most of the alumni are providing direct service to individuals, families, groups and/or communities. Two are in administrative positions, and one is primarily involved in social policy development and implementation. Of fifteen reporting their annual income, fourteen are earning over $30,000 annually, and four of these fourteen are earning over $40,000. Most report general satisfaction with their work environment, though many add that there is still room for improvement with respect to salary and benefits, administrative support, and the physical environment in which they work.
