The Vice President for Student Life (VPSL) is the principal administrative officer responsible for the administration of the majority of activities of student support services, including such areas as auxiliary enterprises, financial aid, student activities and organizations, and student housing. Reporting directly to the VPSL are: the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management/Registrar; the Associate Dean for Student Development; the Directors of Admissions, of Freshman, Undeclared Major Advisement, Testing and Attendance of Student Activities, of Student Financial Aid, of Student Support Services, of the Counseling Center, of the Health Promotion and Wellness Center, and of Housing.
The Associate Dean of Enrollment Management is charged with managing and supervising the areas of Enrollment Management which consists of Admissions, Financial Aid, Freshman and Undeclared Major Advisement, and Student Support Services and Records. Specific responsibilities include all aspects of a marketing and customer-centered enrollment management program for recruitment and retention, preparation of reports and analyses of enrollment statistics as well as current trends, forecasts and projections in order to develop long and short range enrollment strategies, staff supervision and development of recruitment materials and assisting administrators and faculty to ensure recruitment and retention goals are congruent with Coppin’s overall enrollment and revenue objectives.
The Associate Dean of Student Development provides administrative oversight and support to the directors of Student Development; specific responsibilities are to refine, and coordinate the activities in conjunction with office/center directors which include: Career Development and Co-op Education Center, Counseling Center, Disabled Student Services, Housing/Resident Life, Health Promotion/Wellness Center, Office of Student Activities and assists the Vice President for Student Life in the administration of student life policies, guidelines and procedures responsible for student leadership development and adjudication of the student code.
The Director is responsible for directing and overseeing the undergraduate admissions program for freshmen, transfer and readmitted students. The Director of Admission directs the recruitment and selection processes, ensuring compliance with University System of Maryland rules and regulations.
The Director is primarily responsible for the management of all career programs and personnel. Specific responsibilities include providing career counseling, overseeing departmental budgets and programs, developing organizational goals and policies to meet changing student needs.
The Director is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of counseling center programs and services. Specific responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling and overseeing counselors, International Student Services, Disabled Student Services and the Peer Counseling Program.
The Director of Financial Aid is charged with the overall management of financial aid programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Specific responsibilities include planning, development and implementation of approved financial aid policies, procedures and delivery systems; interpretation of federal and state policies; reporting fiscal accountability for state and federal programs; managing and expanding computerized financial aid systems.
The Director is responsible for directing and supervising the administration and coordination of the basic skills placement test, attendance program, mentoring and advising process, and freshmen seminar courses; collects and maintains statistical data; prepared reports and correspondence to students, faculty and staff; maintains academic files on students, and monitors departmental budget.
The Director is primarily responsible for providing emergency services in conjunction with the office of Campus Police, executing personal health assessments and screening, managing a departmental budget and using peer educators to promote a healthier lifestyle among students. The Director supervises staff and the operation of the Student Health Insurance Program.
The Director is primarily responsible for a residence life program seeking to serve 300 resident students as well as providing for off-campus housing opportunities. The Director will manage the planning, personnel, contract administration, housing assignments, and educational programs for the residence facility. He/she oversees departmental budgets, trains staff and supervises professional, clerical and paraprofessional staff.
The Director’s primary responsibility is to oversee all components of the records and registration operation. Specific responsibilities include overseeing the coordination of academic class schedules and classroom usage; managing the graduation clearance process, overseeing the issuance of transcripts and posting of grades.
The Director is primarily responsible for the coordination of all undergraduate clubs and organizations, provides administrative support to the two operated publications, serves as advisor to the Student Senate, oversees departmental budgets and is responsible for planning and executing social, educational and cultural activities.
The Director is charged with the overall management of the Student Support Services program. Specific responsibilities include planning, evaluating and monitoring the components of the program; documenting student eligibility utilizing federal guidelines; monitor the documentation and reports and supervising the employees of Student Support Services.
The Committee is responsible for reviewing financial aid decisions as they relate to awards.
The Committee is responsible for developing and coordinating an orientation program for new students.
The Committee is responsible for developing College-wide recruitment strategies and coordinating the effort of the College offices and academic departments in recruiting students.
The Committee is responsible for reviewing appeals for change of residency clarifications.
The Task Force is responsible for coordinating the efforts of various components of the College (committees, offices, services, etc.) In order to retain an increasing number of students; with special emphasis on retaining freshmen.
The student senate is responsible for providing for the broad involvement and adequate representation of all students in governance of the College; effective communication among the administration, students, and faculty; provides on-going relationships with student organizations at other institutions; and provides a mechanism for student to address community concerns.
