Exit Portfolio
Master of Arts in Teaching

Portfolio assessment is a form of evaluation of student outcomes. All graduating students must submit and receive approval for his or her final portfolio. The Exit Portfolio should present clear evidence that you have the required knowledge, skills, and perspectives that will enable you to be a "reflective facilitator of learning." The Exit Portfolio artifacts should reflect the School of Education's Conceptual Framework Outcomes, Specific Program Standards (ACEI for elementary Education concentration, the Professional standard for each respective secondary area of concentration), the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) principles, and Maryland Teacher Technology Standards(MTTS). Your Exit Portfolio must receive a minimum rating of "Meet Standards" in order to be granted approval for graduation. Failure to receive the acceptable rating may result in your "Graduation Approval Sheet" be denied for processing for graduation.

The exit professional portfolio must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Graduate Performance Assessment Manual. The portfolio, completed while the candidate is enrolled in CUIN  608 - Internship in Curriculum and Teaching, will assist the teacher candidate to document his or her ability to:

  • integrate knowledge skills, and attitudes acquired from a variety of practical and theoretical aspects of teacher preparation
  • develop and refine reflective observation skills
  • apply reflective skills to the analysis of teaching and learning
  • foster professional orientation for problem solving, decision making, and leadership
