The Coppin Family joins the University System of Maryland and the Nation in expressing our sorrow for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This recent tragedy gives us the opportunity, however, to assist in nurturing disrupted lives back to some semblance of normalcy. In this vein, Coppin State University initiated several efforts to assist families and college students in the affected region such as: offering tuition waivers for 10 students in the Fall 2005 semester, cash donations, Meals scholarships, enrolling in on-line courses, and food and clothing.
We are incorporating three institutions from New Orleans – Southern, Xavier and Dillard, in our campaign by providing some scholarship support for students. This will be a longer term of commitment to students from New Orleans.
