Dionne Curbeam, director of Coppin State University’s Instructional Technology Department (ITD), was awarded the 2012 Blackboard Catalyst Award for Communication Strategies at the annual users conference, Blackboard World 2012.
“The Communication Strategies Award recognizes those who use Blackboard tools to support teaching and learning or campus engagement with innovative communication strategies,” wrote Ray Henderson, president of Academic Platforms and Chief Technology Officer.
This is the first year for the category.
The award program is designed to enhance the visibility of the innovation taking place at your institution and to recognize the efforts the staff is making that directly impact teaching and learning programs at Coppin State University.
“This is a blessing and I am truly humbled to have been selected. This was a team effort and it took the assistance of all departments in ITD for a successful implementation,” says Dr. Curbeam. “The Blackboard Connect allows us to leverage technology to communicate in a dynamic way to all of our demographic of students via voicemails, emails, texts and social media messages. I look forward to greater usage on campus and having a continuing impact with students.”
