Opportunities To Attend And Intern In The Arts

Be on the Scene: Baltimore – Where the Arts Are Alive!

For students interested in the arts, Coppin offers the best of both worlds: the abundant and diverse cultural resources of the Baltimore metropolitan area, plus the personalized academic environment of a dynamic small university with its own thriving arts scene. Each semester, students enrolled in arts courses attend events selected from a wide variety of the plays, concerts, recitals, and exhibits that make up the Baltimore arts scene. The department also coordinates arts tours to Washington and New York.

Students who major in urban arts or take classes in the arts will have opportunities to meet artists and performers, to participate in arts activities, and to serve internships in arts venues throughout the greater Baltimore area. Coppin students have successfully interned with such organizations as the Arena Playhouse, the Maryland Historical Society, the McKim Community Center, Baltimore Clayworks, and the Baltimore Afro-American Newspaper.

Also, seniors in Urban Arts complete a capstone course, in which they create portfolios to use when seeking professional employment.
