Clinical Requirements
Undergraduate Nursing

Students shall complete the following by July 1st before the beginning of each Fall Semester:

  • HEALTH CLEARANCE
  • HIPAA
  • OSHA
  • CPR

Health Clearance

All students are required to have an annual Health History and Physical completed by their Primary Care Provider. Students can also schedule an appointment to be seen in the Community Health Center by calling (410) 951-4188. Healthcare providers are required to use the Health Clearance form provided by the School of Nursing.

Uniforms

All students are required to wear the Coppin State University regulation uniform. The uniform must be ordered no later than July 1 to be received in time for the first clinical day. The psychiatric mental health clinical uniform consists of Coppin State University School of Nursing embroidered white polo and khaki color pants. Students will wear the polo shirt for community health clinical with navy blue pants. The uniform polo shirt must be ordered no later than June 1 to be received in time for the first clinical day.

Nursing Kit

In addition to the nursing uniform, you will need to obtain the following accessories:

  • Stethoscope
  • Blood Pressure Cuff
  • Scissors
  • Penlight
  • Kelly Clamp
  • Measuring Tape
  • Wrist Watch (with second hand)
  • ID Badge Holder

CPR Certification

Nursing student CPR certification is required yearly for all courses having a clinical rotation. Students must submit a copy of their CPR card to the CHP Student Affairs and Retention [STAR] Office by July 1st before the beginning of each FALL Semester. All cards must be valid through spring semester (May 30th of each school year).

A CPR class is scheduled in June of each year from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm for Certification and Recertification. The cost will be communicated to you and will be paid in Cash Only. Those individuals requesting recertification must submit a current or recently expired CPR card.
