Nursing Certificate
The Helene Fuld School of Nursing offers the traditional BSN, an RN to BSN Completion Program, and a Master of Science in Nursing degree and Post-Master Certification in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). As a master’s program student, a total of forty-eight to fiftyone (48-51) credits will be required to earn a Master’s Degree in Nursing. As a post-master’s student, a total of thirty-one (31) credits will be required to earn a certificate in the FNP program.
FNP PURPOSE
The purpose of the FNP program in the Helene Fuld School of Nursing is to prepare practitioners to provide advanced primary health care to the underserved population in the urban setting. The curriculum content reflects integration of various concepts that are essential for the graduate program, with unique emphasis on primary care of the urban community.
REQUIREMENTS FOR POST-MASTER’S PROGRAM
- A Master’s degree in Nursing.
- At least one Graduate level course in research and one in statistics.
- A cGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on Master’s course work.
- A photocopy of current R.N. licensure in the State of Maryland or valid member of the Nurse Multi-State Licensure Compact should be submitted to the CSU Office of Admissions.
- Evidence of personal and professional qualification in the form of three (3) professional recommendations.
- A personal interview is required.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- The Office of Admissions must receive application and supporting documents for the Master’s and Post-Master’s programs by July 15th for fall semester and December 15th for spring semester.
- The FNP program admits students to the fall, spring and summer terms. All applicants must submit the following materials:
- Complete the Coppin State University Graduate Division Application for Admission, pay the required application fee, and submit three (3) letters of recommendation. Have this information sent to the Office of Admissions.
- Official transcripts from each college or university you attended should be sent to the Office of Admissions.
- A photocopy of current R.N. licensure in the State of Maryland or valid member of the Nurse Multi-State Licensure Compact should be submitted to the CSU Office of Admissions.
- A statement of goals and objectives should be submitted to the CSU Office of Admissions.
- International applicants must submit an official Testing of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report to the Office of Admissions.
- Proof of satisfactory completion of a course in statistics and nursing research.
