[IMG] Join our Diverse Workforce.Positions at Coppin State University are categorized as follows:

  1. Regular Exempt Positions
    All regular positions include a full benefits package. Professional, managerial and executive positions are classified as Exempt on the basis of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Exempt employees serve at pleasure of the president and are not eligible for cash overtime.

  2. Regular Non-Exempt Positions
    All regular positions include a full benefits package. Service, technical, clerical and paraprofessional positions are classified as Non-Exempt under FLSA and are subject to cash overtime if required to work beyond a 40-hour workweek. Non-Exempt employees serve a mandatory probationary period and receive a salary adjustment upon successful completion of probation.

  3. Contingent I Employment (Exempt or Non-Exempt)
    Contingent I Employees are hired under a written agreement for six months or less, and is not selected through competitive recruitment. The College provides federally mandated benefits only. Employee may access some employee paid benefits.

  4. Contingent II Employment (Exempt or Non-Exempt)
    Employees hired under a written agreement for six months or more and the employee must work a minimum of 20 hours per work week to qualify and be selected through a competitive recruitment. A limited leave package and employee paid benefits programs are available. Appointments may be renewable.

  5. Regular Faculty Positions
    Faculty who are hired in a regular position may be on a tenure-track, visiting, clinical or tenure appointment. All regular faculty positions, at least 50% FTE, include a full benefits package.

  6. Adjunct part-time appointments (by semester)
    Faculty who are hired to teach one or more courses for a specific semester. These Teaching appointments are paid a flat rate for each course taught. Adjunct faculty may access some employee paid benefits.
