Q. What can I do with a degree in history?
A. Obtaining a degree in history can be rewarding, for the study of history prepares a student for the dynamics of business, government, or nonprofit careers. Also, historical scholarship trains the mind to think on many levels, to deal with partial evidence and with ambiguity.
Q. What are the GER requirements for history?
A. Students may take the courses out of sequence, i.e., part two before part one.
Q. What concentrations are offered in history?
A. The Department of History, Geography and Global Studies offers concentrations in African, African American, and U.S. History, Social Studies Teacher Education, and Global Studies.

Q. What can I do with a degree in Global Studies?
A. The degree prepares you for the growing number of rewarding careers in the global arena in the 21st century. It equips you with the skills in foreign languages and the knowledge of economics, geography, history, government and other subjects that are needed by fast-paced professionals in international business, diplomacy and a wide range of other careers. In addition, the degree is a great preparation for law school and graduate school.
Q. What concentrations (tracks) are offered in Global Studies?
A. Majors pursue either a regional track with upper-level courses focused on a specific area (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America) or a global skills track with a upper-level courses tied closely to needs of specific career paths such as international marketing, journalism, geospatial intelligence, sustainable development, or international health.
