Course Sequence

The Post Masters Certificate Program was developed for nurses with a Master's degree in Nursing who wish to pursue a Post Master's education to become Family Nurse Practitioners. The certificate program prepares students to provide comprehensive primary care to urban families in under served areas. The program also emphasizes the care of a client throughout the lifespan.

Students completing the program are prepared to sit for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, because of their in-depth knowledge of health promotion, disease prevention, growth and development, wellness care, assessment and management of common illness. The courses of study consist of 31 credit hours and precepted clinical hours.

Student's course sequence schedules are planned based on his/her needs, background and availability of clinical agencies.
