Students in all majors are welcome to minor in music. Students who participate in Coppin’s music program enhance their understanding and appreciation of both vocal and keyboard music. Music minors must complete 21 credits (7 courses) in music beyond the GERs, including courses in:
- Music theory
- Musicianship, and
- Vocal and/or piano performance
Music minors complete their remaining courses in such areas as music history and vocal and piano performance.
By participating in such annual events as Convocation, Fannie Jackson Coppin Day, Commencement, and African-American History Month programs, music minors have become an integral part of Coppin’s history and traditions. In addition, their off-campus concerts have taken them from the White House in Washington, DC, to churches in Korea.
