Hugh W. Carey has led the choral program to new heights since taking over in 1998. Mr. Carey is a thirty-year veteran of the Baltimore City Public Schools, where he served as department head and choral director at Patterson, Dunbar, and Lake Clifton High Schools. His last assignment with public schools was serving as the Arts Director of Booker T. Washington Middle School Arts Academy, the only specialized middle school program in the arts. For eight years, Mr. Carey served as administrator and principal director of the Baltimore City-sponsored choral group 100 Voice Citizens Choir Celebrating Baltimore. Mr. Carey has also been invited to serve as choral adjudicator and guest conductor of Honors Choirs in Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties. He also served as the director/music director of the Eubie Blake Cultural and Jazz Institute's Music Theater Workshop.
