Eligibility Requirements
Office of Financial Aid

Eligibility requirements may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Admitted as a degree or certificate-seeking student.
  • Enrolled at least half time (6 credits for undergraduate students and 5 credits for graduate students).
  • A US citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree or certificate.
  • Registered with selective services (if required).
  • In compliance with Coppin State University's Drug and Alcohol Policies.
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial aid application.
  • Must not be in default on a Federal Student Loan.
  • Must not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant.
  • Students on a F1, F2, J1, J2 or a G series visa are not eligible for federal aid.
  • Have a valid social security number.

Special Non-Degree Students

Special Non-Degree Students are not eligible for federal Title IV financial aid (Pell Grant, SEOG Grant, Perkins Loans, Stafford Loans).

Some lenders provide alternative loans for special non-degree seeking students. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid to obtain more information on alternative loans.
