Jar the Floor, by award-winning playwright Cheryl L. West, will close the 2014-15 theatre season at Coppin State University. Performances will run Thursday- Saturday, April 9th -11 and Monday, April 13th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the Theatre Lab, on the lower level of the Grace Jacobs Building, near the 2500 W. This dramatic comedy introduces the audience to four generations of African American women, gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of the family matriarch, “MaDear.” West explores mother-daughter relationships with ferocious humor and disarming humanity. As the celebration unfolds, ghosts, secrets, and a surprise guest test the boundaries of family bonds, already strained by old memories and the new challenges of coping with MaDear’s advancing dementia.

Critically acclaimed actress, Cheryl Pasteur, heads the cast, which includes veteran actresses Pam Sparks, Nickole Scroggins, Whitney Hopkins and Esther Schwarzbauer, who portrays the unexpected guest.
