The Center for Counseling and Student Development offers personal development workshops. These workshops are designed to help students grow in ways that are meaningful to them on a personal level. There is an array of workshops offered each semester so that students can attend workshops that meet their individual needs for self exploration and personal growth. These dynamic and engaging workshops are presented by staff from the CCSD.
Personal Development Workshop Series Schedule
Family Ties
Whether you're 3,000 or 30 miles away, you still have to manage everything back at home. Learn more about managing long-distance relationships; keeping parents, friends, and siblings connected without being too connected; and handling your visits home.
Self Esteem
The Self-Esteem Interactive Workshop is a hands-on 60 minute lecture/workshop. It takes participants on a journey toward self discovery by enhancing self awareness, identity formation, self theory and goal setting. You will walk away inspired and motivated to reach for new levels of accomplishment and personal growth.
Sharing Space
You may have grown up living with lots of siblings, or this may be your first time sharing your living space with someone else. While having a roommate inevitably has its challenges, it can also be a great part of your college experience. This workshop will help make sure you and your roommate keep things pleasant and supportive throughout the year (or even years!).
Body Image
The goal of the workshop is to teach students the dangers of encompassing inappropriate ideals about their bodies and the importance of boosting their self-confidence rather than focusing excessively on their appearance.
Intimate Relationships
The goal of this workshop is to explore approaches and skills that individuals can use to foster healthy relationships, explore the idea of boundaries, defining where one person begins and someone else ends, increase people's comfort with who they are, strengthen people's awareness of how their own feelings and understandings influence their relationships, develop a framework for viewing themselves and others in a relationship, and to increase people's ability to make healthy choices.
Balancing Work, Life, and School
Are home, school, or work responsibilities getting you down? Do you feel overwhelmed by your obligations? Students often feel overwhelmed by their home, school and work responsibilities. This workshop will offer some tips to help keep your life balanced while you handle all your commitments and obligations.
