Question:
What do you think about someone keeping a journal? Do you think it is helpful or does it depend on the individual?
Answer:
Hello,
Many people find keeping a journal very helpful for a variety of reasons. People derive meaning and purpose in journaling as they move through their day to day life. It can be part of a healthy therapeutic regime. Some find that keeping a journal encapsulates memories, thoughts, and feelings. Also, journal writing can serve as a great outlet. Lastly, journal writing has been shown to have a calming effect which leads to less stress. In the end, the best way to put it is from a quote 'if your life is worth living, it is worth recording".
Question:
Ex-Wife states that her ex-husband is bipolar and has anti-social personality disorder, would contact with our six year old son alone be extremely detrimental?
Answer:
Thank you for your question. People who are diagnosed with these conditions can exhibit a wide range of symptoms. A large part of how these symptoms manifest depends on whether or not the person is currently taking medicaton and is in therapy. Furthermore, these conditions vary from person to person. People who have these conditions are rearing children with no problems. I am unable to answer your question since I do not have all of the information rgarding the condition for the father. I would suggest speaking with him and determining how he is with your son. I am also attaching a
handout on bipolar disorder. Please feel free to contact the CCSD with further questions.
