Know your goals, interests and skills; and be able to articulate your qualifications to the recruiter. (Develop a one minute statement and practice, practice, practice.)
Review the list of organizations, develop your priority list. Visit their websites to learn about the organizations and develop questions.
Plan your attire - choose conservative business attire. Go to Quintessential Careers for dress for women or dress for men
On Career Exploration Day:
Sign in, obtain a program booklet, review the layout of the organizations and locate those on your priority list.
Confidently introduce yourself to the recruiter, offer a firm handshake and good eye contact. (If there is a line, be patient or approach the next organization on your list and plan to return later.)
Provide the recruiter with your resume. Express your interest in the organization and/or your qualifications for the position. Bring your resume on a flash drive or save it to your "H" drive in case the recruiter directs you to apply on their website. (Computers will be available for your use)
Listen carefully and be prepared to answer questions the recruiter may ask. (An Interviewing Skills handout is available in the Center.)
Ask questions you have prepared or follow up questions.
Thank the recruiter for her/his time and ask for a business card. If they do not have a card, request the correct spelling of their name and contact information.
After Career Exploration Day:
Write a thank you letter to the recruiters.
Follow-up by e-mailing or calling employers if you have not received a response within two weeks after submitting your resume.
