Mission & Goals

Strengthen and enhance the campus' ability to provide services, assessment, and outcome data for use in decision-making concerning effective and efficient programs and services for students.

  • Provide guidance to university schools for the development of student learning assessment projects and related learning assessment activities.

Provide assessment data and analysis to aid in ensuring educational programs meets and maintains high standards of excellence as measured by a number of internal and external indicators of effectiveness such as program reviews, employment rates, external evaluations by accrediting bodies, progression rates, retention rates, and student opinions and evaluation of course and instruction.

  • Usage of management tools and techniques to ensure continuous quality improvement in program and service delivery.
  • Establishment of an assessment database that warehouses information on student learning and institutional outcomes.

Develop fundraising capacity to ensure the long-term stability of the assessment process at Coppin State University.

Develop a documented assessment process that is institutionalized and ensures a standardization of processes and procedures for continuous improvement that connects the learning process with assessment.

  • Campus-wide outcomes assessment activities include the use of standardized instrument results to document and evaluate program and service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Refinement of current student outcomes assessment strategies and data collection efforts.
  • Evaluation, assessment, and performance review processes gathering useful information to improve university-wide and personnel planning and performance.
  • Provide an annual update on the institutional and student learning outcomes assessment.
  • Monitor institutional timelines for learning assessment initiatives.

Cultivation of assessment resources that can enable support for decision making and continuous improvement efforts.

Increase institutional capacity for ongoing faculty and student involvement that contributes to the student success agenda.

  • Linkage of student learning outcomes to academic program review and curriculum revisions.
  • Integration of assessment data into the curriculum and the adoption and acceptance of this thrust by faculty and staff through workshops and various other interactions.
