What is the Placement Test?

The Accuplacer Placement Test measures students' skill levels in English, Reading, and Mathematics. The scores will determine if a student is ready to enroll in regular college level courses.

Who is required to take the Placement Test?

The following students must take the placement test:

  • New Freshman
  • Readmit students with fewer than 25 credits (who have not completed all remedial requirements) or (who are returning to college after 6 years or more)
  • Transfer students with fewer than 25 credits
  • All international students from countries where instruction is not in English

Students who have earned scores of 470 or higher on the SAT verbal and/or math tests are exempt from the reading and/or math parts of the placement test but must take the English part of the test.

When Do Students Take The Placement Test?

Students schedule to take the placement test once they have received a placement test packet by mail.
