About the Office of Academic Advisement

Mission

The mission of the Office of Academic Advisement is to promote student development and success by assisting undecided students with the process of identifying, clarifying, and achieving their academic goals.

Through individual and group advising, the Advisement Office seeks to accomplish its mission by:

• Challenging, supporting and assisting these students with the process of becoming self-directed learners
• Providing at least one personal contact and one email or phone contact per undecided student in an effort to raise the students' awareness of the Office of Academic Advisement, the services it provides, and the academic policies and procedures by which each student is governed
• Assisting these students with the development of meaningful educational plans, refining goals and objectives, understanding available choices, and understanding that the ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans rests with the student
