Admissions Policies for Registered Nurse Completion Program (RN to BSN)

DEADLINE Date for Applications for early decision for the FALL 2012 Term will be Wednesday, February 1, 2012.

Program of Study

Registered Nurse Applicant Requirements

1. Complete the undergraduate application at http://legacy.coppin.edu/applyonline/ for admission to Coppin State University.
2. Identify Nursing as the major of choice on the Application for Undergraduate Admission Form.
3. Complete the application form for the Undergraduate Nursing Program located on the following link http://www.coppin.edu/UndergraduateNursing/Application.pdf or in the Admissions packet and all necessary documentation.
4. Complete the application process as required by the Office of Admissions.
5. Applicants must submit two (2) transcripts be sent from all previously attended Colleges / Universities. One copy is to be sent to the CSU Office of Admissions and the second copy to the HFSON, Office of Student Affairs and Retention [STAR]. If you have any foreign education, you must submit an evaluation of your foreign coursework by one of the following: World Education Service [WES] or American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers [AACRAO].
6. Submit three (3) letters of recommendation to the Office of S.T.A.R. for the HFSON on the form required by the Undergraduate Nursing Program. (These forms are in the Admission Packet or download from the following link: http://www.coppin.edu/UndergraduateNursing/Recommendation.pdf).
7. The Nursing Admission, Progression, and Retention Committee and the Dean of Nursing will review the records to determine applicant eligibility.
8. Applicants will be notified of their admission or denial status to the RN to BSN Undergraduate Nursing Program.
9. The School of Nursing will notify the Office of Undeclared Majors and Academic Advising of applicant’s admission or denial to the RN to BSN Undergraduate Nursing Program.
10. When admitted, all applicants will be required to complete a Release of Information Form (ROI) and complete the paperwork for the Background Check and Drug Screen.
11. Complete the steps necessary for the Health Clearance. (Download the Health Screen Form from the following link: http://www.coppin.edu/UndergraduateNursing/HealthClearanceForm.pdf).
