The Tom Joyner Foundation chooses eleven schools each year to conduct fundraising campaigns in conjunction with the Foundation. Each school is assigned a month during which that school is highlighted on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. During that schools month, donors may make contributions live on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

The Tom Joyner Foundation is a charitable 501c3 organization that began in 1997. The Foundation assists African-American students in financial need at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the nation. The Tom Joyner Foundation's School of the Month program has raised more than $55 million to date for this single cause.
The organization raises money through its national partners and the "Tom Joyner Morning Show." Each month, the radio show features a different HBCU; it highlights the schools' accomplishments, conducts live interviews with the school president, spotlights major national and local donors to the university, and profiles scholarship participants. Throughout the month, Tom Joyner asks his listening audience to call in donations or to go online to blackamericaweb.com to donate to the school of the month.
Being a Tom Joyner School of the Month helps Coppin by giving us national exposure through the Tom Joyner Morning Show, informing the general public about Coppin’s mission. It also encourages support from national donors and sponsor as well as alumni who are among the 8 million listeners during Coppin’s month. Participation in the School of the Month program helps us to raise funds and awareness both nationally and locally through the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

The Tom Joyner Foundation requires that all gifts be funneled through their foundation first. Each month the Tom Joyner Foundation will send a check and a gift report outlining each donor’s contact information and the amount they contributed. At that time, the Coppin State University Development Foundation will acknowledge the donors for that month.
Donors wishing to send their gift to Coppin State University should make the checks payable to the Tom Joyner Foundation and write Coppin State University in the memo line. Checks should be mailed to:

All the dollars raised from the Tom Joyner Scholarship Campaign will be used for scholarship support for Coppin State University students unless a donor specifically requests that the funds are to be used for another purpose.

The Tom Joyner Morning Show is broadcasts on the following stations every week day from 6 to 10 am.

Coppin will not be hosting a Sky Show in conjunction with our campaign.
Once we receive a donors check or documentation that a donation was made, Coppin will send acknowledgement letters to the donors.
