About our services

The ITD Telecommunications department provides, maintains and manages the cabling infrastructure necessary for the support of internal and external electronic college communications. These communications include telephone, computer network and other critical services. The infrastructure consists of a campus wide duct bank, a fiber optic network backbone, Category 5 & 6  network  and voice cabling, SIP inbound and outbound voice carrier and Verizon Telco.

A primary function of this department is to provide college wide voice services using an Avaya Communications Server 1000E (CS100E). Telephone services are provided at a level necessary to support the demanding administrative and academic needs of the college. Both conventional and voice over IP technologies are used to deliver telephone services.

The Telecommunications department also provides Unified Communications. Avaya CallPilot is a unified voice messaging system that integrates Avaya voice mail with Microsoft Outlook, to provide visual voicemail and digital fax in conjunction with e-mail. This service is provided to all administrative and academic users.

To provide a higher level of safety and protection for the entire faculty, staff, and student body of the University; the Telecommunications department has implemented an Enhanced 911 (E911) system. This system provides emergency responders and campus police with the exact emergency location information of 911 callers. This information provides quicker response time and service in a time of crisis.

The department also provides technical support for special projects such as smart classrooms, new building construction, etc.
