About Us

The Instructional Technology Department provides support to faculty in the use of instructional technology. We conduct workshops and consult with faculty and staff individually and in groups. Our mission is to enhance student retention and success through the use of engaging, effective and appropriate technology solutions.

Some of the technologies that we help faculty to use include:

Blackboard is a Course Management System (CMS) that allows an instructor to interact with students online. Whether you are teaching a face-to-face, hybrid, or completely online class, you can use Blackboard to engage students in online discussions, assess students' knowledge with online tests and quizzes, hold virtual office hours, and more. TurnItIn is a tool within Blackboard that allows professors to create writing assignments for students, automatically check the assignment for "unoriginal work" (plagiarism), and provides an option to grade student papers online. Want to learn more?

Tegrity is a lecture capture software that makes class time available anytime. Faculty can record class lectures with audio, video and desktop actions. Students can view the recordings for review and add bookmarks and notes. Want to learn more?

EagleLinks is a user-friendly gateway to access campus systems. Faculty, staff and students can use Eaglelinks to be productive and efficient.

Turning Technologies Clickers is an audience response system. Faculty can convert PowerPoint presentations into interactive activities or create an impromptu interactive presentation. It's a great way to actively engage students and check students' level of understanding about class content. Want to learn more?
